What is the minimum number of eggs I can order?
You can order half dozens as a minimum.
What is the maximum number of eggs I can order?
When you place an order on our website, it will allow you to add a maximum number of dozens of a certain breed into your basket. That number differs between our breeds and also changes for each breed depending on the time of the year and how booked out we are for that breed.
Do you offer custom dozens?
No, we don’t. To cover your needs as much as we can, we offer a wide range of rainbow arrangements for you to choose from as well as our Purebred Mix, which gives you a very good variety of eggs from our purebred pens that are currently actively laying. In addition, we offer half dozens, which allows you to purchase a smaller number of eggs from each breed and make up your own custom collection.
How soon will I receive my eggs from the time I place my order?
This depends on the time of the year and on the orders we have received prior to yours. We are usually 2-3 weeks booked ahead, but every so often we can sneak in a new order, so please check with us first if you require your eggs on a certain date.
Do you vaccinate your chicks?
We don’t vaccinate our birds because we are an organic farm. We use various herbal and other natural methods to keep our birds healthy and thriving, and we also have a very strict biosecurity policy that does not allow to bring new birds and risk transfer diseases into the farm. And although many of our birds are show quality stock, we do not show them for the same reason: to avoid bringing diseases into the farm. Our poultry feed, which we also offer for purchase, contains a unique blend of herbs that both protect from diseases and strengthen the immune systems of our birds. You can order our poultry feed here.
Do you offer pullets or point of lay?
The short answer is no. We only offer day old chicks (unsexed, various breeds), day old sexed female cream legbar chicks, and hatching eggs.
Do you take roosters back?
If you have purchased unsexed chicks from us or hatched our eggs, chances are there will be some roosters in the lot. We are an organic farm and have established strict biosecurity rules to keep our poultry free from brought-in diseases. For this reason, we do not take roosters back. You can rehome any unwanted roosters through groups on Facebook or other social media. In some areas, there is also a rooster man who is available to take unwanted roosters.
What is involved in raising baby chicks?
It’s actually much easier than you may think! You need a cage, a heat source, waterer, feeder, bedding and feed. And of course, the chicks! We offer all of these to get you set up. As a one-stop shop, we strive to help you in your chicken journey every step of the way.
Can I order baby chicks?
We don’t normally take orders for chicks, hence why you cannot order them on our website. We advertise every hatch on our facebook, instagram and WhatsApp every week and you can make contact with us to purchase these chicks. However, you are most welcome to contact us in advance and tell us what you need, and we will do our best to help you out.
What poultry supplies do you offer?
From heat plates, to waterers and feeders, nipple chick drinkers, candling torches, hatching bags, hygrometers, cages, chick leg bands, poultry feed, to our unique chicken wellness kit, you can find here a lot of important necessities for all poultry keepers. Check out our poultry supplies here.
When do you post eggs?
We express post eggs Australia-wide every week using Australia Post. Our post days are Mondays and Tuesdays. If you only want your eggs to be posted on a Monday, please leave a note at checkout, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Also, please keep an eye on your emails as you will receive your tracking number on an email from us on the day your eggs are posted.
Can you post eggs on a specific day?
We can do this if you message us well in advance. We only post on Mondays and Tuesdays though, so it will have to be one of those two days.
Do you replace eggs that haven’t hatched?
No, we don’t. We test the fertility of all of our pens every week using various methods, which give us great confidence in the fertility of the eggs we sell. How they will travel (if posted) and how they will be incubated are both out of our control. Please read more on this here, and feel free to contact us for more information or on how to optimise your hatch prior to ordering eggs from us here.
Do you help troubleshoot?
Of course! We are very happy to help you troubleshoot if your hatch hasn’t been optimal and offer you advice on how to optimise your next hatch. Feel free to reach out!
Do you deliver/post chicks?
We do not deliver chicks – these can only be picked up from our farm, either by appointment or on Saturday mornings when we open.
Do you offer options for homeschoolers and school programs?
We are a homeschooling family, so helping other homeschoolers is not only a pleasure, but also a passion for us! Reach out to discuss your needs and goals, and we are more than happy to help any way we can! We also provide hatching eggs for school programs. Farm tours are also on the horizon, so stay tuned for that exciting announcement!
