Hatching in winter is something some avoid as a bit of extra effort is needed to keep the young ones warm. We hatch all year round and just follow different strategies that help maximise the chances of raising healthy chicks. One of these strategies is ensuring our breeders have a premium nutrition and unlimited access to quality food including wild greens. This allows for strong healthy chicks that hatch from our eggs. One tip we can offer that you can apply at your end when you hatch our eggs is that we keep the newly hatched chicks inside the warm incubator for the first 24 hours before we move them to the brooder. We find this particularly important for winter hatching. Although some leave the chicks in the incubator for up to 2-3 days before moving them to the brooder, we recommend that they do not stay in the incubator for more than 24 hours as they do benefit from water, and subsequently feed, after the first day.
