We cannot stress enough the importance of having an independent *good* hygrometer inside your incubator. In many incubators, especially when they’ve been used a few times, the set temperature and humidity do not correspond to the actual inside the incubator. Often, there are also cold or hot spots in your incubator. Moreover, even the best incubators need calibrating every few months. The above reasons are why EVERYONE should be using a secondary independent hygrometer inside your incubator. This can literally save your chicks! It can be used to calibrate your incubator and to quickly make adjustments when things aren’t as they should be. Trust me when I say I learned the hard way! Even with a Brinsea!

We highly recommend the Inkbird hygrometers that have high precision because even 0.5 a degree in temperature can make the difference between live and dead chicks! They also connect to your phone through Bluetooth and give you a graph of the temperature and humidity for the whole day and night! How cool is that!

Little tip: some hygrometers, including the ones we sell, come with an external probe. Don’t use the probe! They are not as accurate as the actual hygrometer, and as stated above even a 0.5 degree temperature matters when it comes to incubating hatching eggs.
